Joseph (he/him) is a plant lover through and through! He grew up in Chula Vista and earned his Bachelor’s in biology and theatre arts from Southern Utah University. Since his previous internship with EDI, he’s worked as an outdoor educator at NatureBridge’s Golden Gate campus and continued his studies in Southwestern College’s Landscape and Nursery Technology program, helping to grow the botanical garden’s herbarium. Joseph believes that every place has a story that can be told by its plants, and people have a role to play in protecting them. He loves learning more from native plants in their habitats, so he can’t wait to get back in the field with EDI! In his free time, he enjoys hiking (at a botanist’s pace), thrift shopping, and watching plays!
