News & Events

The Earth Discovery Institute keeps its friends and neighbors abreast of activities through a monthly newsletter, and monthly meetings at the Reserve.

Monthly meetings

Calling All Friends! The EDI Board of Directors invites you to meet us, and bring any questions, concerns, or offers of assistance to us in person. Each first Wednesday of the month at 8:30a.m., we will be available at the visitor kiosk near the Horsemill Road entrance to the Reserve. Please contact us using the information at the top of page for additional information or directions.

This James Hubbell-designed Visitors Kiosk was constructed by students to demonstrate how energy-efficient construction can reduce green house gases.
Sunlight filters through the limbs of an Engelmann Oak (Quercus engelmannii). These are the rarest Oaks in the United States due to habitat loss. A single acre of oak woodland may be home to 10-100 million individual insects and 300 different animal species. Photo by Kevin Mortenson
